Parade Floats This year's theme - Hats Off to Our American Heroes The success of the Fourth of July parade is judged on the quality of the marching bands and the floats. The committee strives to encourage float participation and offers a float competition, with different categories of prizes awarded. To make it easier to enter a float or walking unit, the committee has placed a lot of information on its website, including a sign-up form, the parade theme, help for getting a truck to pull the float, and the safety rules and regulations associated with float participation. The committee also plans to hold a “Float Your Float” question and answer session in May to help those who want to enter floats. Again, check the website for details. Ribbons and cash prizes will be presented at the Awards Ceremony after the parade at the Middle School, as well as the Margery Parcher Cup. This award remains the judges’ choice and is open to all parade participants. The cup’s base is then engraved with the name of each year’s winner and is on display at the Duxbury Library throughout the year. Last Year's Winners. |
