The success of the Fourth of July parade is in your hands!
Floats begin lining up on Bay Road at 12:30pm. Bay Rd. is closed to traffic and judging begins. Please be ready! Participants will be asked to make a presentation as to how their float relates to the theme. Special performances or demonstrations will be viewed and judged at this time. There will be no stopping along the parade route fo any further performances. The parade begins promptly at 2:00pm. All other participants will be considered for an award as they pass by the judges on Washington Street. The committee strives to encourage float participation and offers a float competition, with different categories of prizes awarded. To make it easier to enter a float or walking unit, the committee has placed a lot of information on its website, including a sign-up form, help for getting a truck to pull the float, and the safety rules and regulations associated with float participation. Ribbons and cash prizes will be presented at the Awards Ceremony after the parade at the Middle School, as well as the Margery Parcher Cup. This award remains the judges’ choice and is open to all parade participants. The Parcher cup’s base is then engraved with the name of each year’s winner and is on display at the Duxbury Library throughout the year.
